I have been practicing the art of mosaic for 18 years, but it wasn’t until I moved to Whidbey Island in 2019 and then Port Townsend in 2023 that I found my artistic direction. The stunning sunrises over the Skagit Bay informed my art immediately and I began creating mosaic landscapes and seascapes. Combing the beaches of Whidbey Island and Port Townsend, I collected shells, rocks and sea glass and added those to my traditional mosaic materials of stained glass, glass tiles and broken pottery and plates.
During the pandemic, I expanded my work to include embroidery and taught myself to quilt. I found that my work in fabric mirrored my work in mosaic.
